I hope you've had reams of advice privately from those much better
qualified than I to comment.
I agree your partner has left things a bit late. Your return to work
should have been properly planned and anticipated.
I suggest we ask the woman on the Nottingham tram. She thinks that all
parties ought to act reasonably.
Your illness would not be expected to recur except possibly in certain
specific and foreseeable circumstances.
Your psychiatrist has a duty to take action if (s)he feels you would be
putting patients in danger by returning to work. If (s)he is happy then
there is no good reason for you not to return.
If a partner had doubts then it would be reasonable for you to give
permission for the psychiatrist to give a verbal report to the effect
that you were fit. But (s)he can hardly demand it the evening before
your return.
It's the partner's problem, not yours.
