But they are, IIRC, in South Africa although their founder has been over a
large slice of the Earth. To generalise this a little, when the NHS sets up
certificates, the verifiable persistent conspiratorial pseudonymity that
Gavin mentions (though not describing it in that exact term) they will be
claiming that a casualty officer in Darlington can tell the other person is a
GP in Cornwall, and vice versa.
So what checks can credibly make it more likely that the identity being
asserted is one of those of a particular life emergent from a particualr
aggregation of carbon?
Pseudonymity is useful, but there is a lot of hype in the sale of identity
cards and products.
