nGMS
It's somewhat gesture politics but I have endorsed my signature on the
contract "under protest" as well as including a letter courtesy of our
LMC. Strictly it's not under duress but it might as well be.
We are short of nursing staff and may cease to provide a nursing service
(dressings etc) after 1.4.04 - our remaining practice nurse and the new
nurse who has not yet started will do what practice nurses were originally
employed to do - provide delegated GP services.
We're considering what to do about the rheumatology drugs not listed in our
NEC - leflunomide, azathioprine and one or two others. We may well need to
stop near patient testing for these patients with consequent problems for
everyone. We have 18 patients on rheumatology drugs needing near patient
testing but the PCT have said they will only give interim payments for 13.
If we understand our PCT correctly all server upgrades will have to be
Vision or LSP main contractor even though there are many EMIS practices in
the town (Please tell me I'm wrong about this).
Still it could be that we're (nearly) alone in being so gloomy so can
anyone cheer us up (or tell me honestly that all the contract problems are
illusions)?
