Potential leaders will not take a risk if there is absolutely no unity and
if they're wounded by their own side before they have a chance to get out of
their burrows. It's worse than a chicken and egg situation.
Certainly in my neck of the woods when the GPs get together in a group this
has a cathartic effect and leaders appear. No group > no leaders. Maybe we
need to go one of those team building courses where we each bring our plank
and co-operate with the ordinary bloke who knows how to build a boat. Then
we get across the river more successfully that if we each set off on our own
plank and drown or at least look silly.
