One can also point to the fact that it has been through IASPEI and ESC that it has been possible to produce things like the new Manual of Seismological Observatory Practice, the IASPEI Handbook on Earthquake and Engineering Seismology, and the European Macroseismic Scale, which are all tools that are valuable for seismologists everywhere, UK included.
