Postdoctoral Positions - GEOSPACE Consortium
As part of a recently funded NERC consortium GEOSPACE (Geomagnetic Field
Observation from Space), a collaboration between the Universities of
Edinburgh, Leeds, and Liverpool, CCLRC's Rutherford Appleton Laboratories
(RAL), and British Geological Survey (BGS) Edinburgh, we solicit
applications for three fixed-term vacancies at the postdoctoral level. In
all cases, a PhD in geophysics, physics or a closely related discipline is
required. GEOSPACE intends to maximise the information gleaned from
previous, current and future satellites measuring the terrestrial magnetic
field. Position 1 at Liverpool/RAL, 2 years extendable by up to 2 years,
concerns modelling of the quiet-time external magnetic field. Position 2 at
Edinburgh/BGS, 2 years extendable by up to 1 year, involves determining
lithospheric magnetic anomalies. Position 3 at Leeds, 2 years with the
possibility of extension, concerns characterising the Earth's main field
and its time variation. Further details of all positions, including how to
apply, and more information about the Consortium and its members can be
found on http://www.geos.ed.ac.uk/research/geospace.
