I've been working with spatial.car (and spatial.l1) in models of avian
counts. For one species, after ~50 iterations, I receive an 'undefined
real result' error. Looking at the saved state doesn't suggest anything
necessarily very worrisome. I've played around with the inits but this
doesn't help. Does anybody have a sense as to what might be going on? I'm
wondering if the correlation over space is too flat to define with
spatial.car, though there does appear to be some spatial structure in the
counts as higher counts occur in the north and lower counts in the south.
The counts are very sparse though. But, if the counts are too sparse for
spatial.car, I do not understand why the spatial.car doesn't simply return
a mu around zero? Instead, the saved state indicates it's off towards -3
or more.
Any insight would be appreciated,
