I shouldn't have been so brief without being more precise, Geraldine. I
didn't even take the time to write a long message!
As it seems / seemed to me, Kerry and Bush are much the same. Bush is worse,
but in comparison to what I would have - not even thinking of perfection -
both fall far short
Therefore, I do not take great heart from Kerry coming so near to equalling
Bush's vote (steering clear of all the stuff about electoral fraud, and just
taking the official figures)
To be told that Bush is actually worse than we have yet seen does not
surprise me; but nor do I see it as changing the judgement that both major
US parties are effectively malign to the generality of people
Obviously the difference between Bush and Kerry matters greatly in survival
terms. Were I citizen of USA, I would have voted for Kerry just to keep out
Bush
Bush being what he is in no sense justifies Kerry. He's undesirable too,
just less so. They both look bad to me as do our 2 (and I'm not that fond of
our 3rd)
I asked nowhere for perfection
