'limitless space still exists to publish, archive and distribute poetry ...
The internet is a perfect medium for the publication and distribution of
poetry that might not be published by mainstream presses'
it's true that the internet - often existing outside of the pressures of
commerce - can offer alternative ways of distributing creative work. but
unless it is as heavily edited and controlled (if not more) as 'mainstream'
(to excuse a broad term) poetry, there will always be too much of it.
quality over quantity etc. frankly (and i'm speaking against my own here), i
just don't think many internet sites have the 'authority' yet... with a few
notable exceptions edited by people on this list!
'Does the internet, as a means of distribution of poetry, challenge ideas of
regional, national and international poetries?'
yes, but is this always a good thing? sometimes people need to be brought
together, with other people, other traditions, styles etc, but sometimes
people need to know where they're coming from too. oddly, i think the
internet is a kind of challenge to the international-situationist poet.
