If your preferred style is a “zingy, go-everywhere, do-anything dress” from
the Dollyrockers range or a single breasted lounge suit in fancy grey
pinstripe or even a more traditional five button cardigan by Himilaya which
is “at home in the outdoors or in front of a roaring ski lodge fire” than
AHDS Visual Arts’ latest collection is for you!
The London College of Fashion’s Woolmark Company collection is now available
via AHDS Visual Arts. The collection depicts the ‘cool’ wool fashions of the
1940’s through to the 1970’s. The black and white images capture both the
fashion of the time and the style of photography. Many of the images have
accompanying press releases which give additional information about the
garments, designers/manufacturers, the photographer and any points of
interest reflecting the promotional style and language of the time.
There are around 400 digital images in this collection and all were
generously donated to the London College of Fashion from The International
Wool Secretariat, now The Woolmark Company, in the 1980s.
With the addition of the The Woolmark Company collection, AHDS Visual Arts
now has close to 24,000 high quality images covering the full range of
academic subject areas across the visual arts, including: painting; design;
architecture; sculpture; crafts; fashion; art history; printmaking and,
increasingly, digital media.
AHDS Visual Arts’ services are freely available to the higher and further
education sectors.
