part-time vacancy in the National Gallery Libraries & Archive Department .
DOCUMENTATION ASSISTANT
Salary c. £10,400 to £11,600 pa (working 21 hours per week)
You will carry out basic day-to-day maintenance of the Gallery's Picture
Dossiers, undertake bibliographic research in support of the Curatorial
Catalogue Programme and the Library's collection development policy, and
provide the widest possible appropriate access (virtual and actual) to the
collection information documented and/or held in the Dossiers.
You must have a good first degree, preferably in art history or a related
discipline, and a basic reading knowledge of a range of European languages.
A thorough knowledge of the history of Western European painting, 1200-1900,
and familiarity with the National Gallery collection are essential
requirements.
You should have experience of bibliographic research and must have excellent
interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work quickly and to
agreed deadlines is important. Enthusiasm, adaptability, attention to
detail, a methodical approach and accuracy are all key qualities.
