Dear colleagues

The next meeting of the South East Region of the Society of Archivists will
be held at Hove Museum & Art Gallery on Friday 14th May. Following the
business meeting, the visit will include two talks: the first, by Frank
Gray, director of the South East Film and Video Archive (SEFVA), will be
about SEFVA and its cross-sectoral history. The other, by Suzie Plumb,
Curator of Film and Toys at the Museum, will be about the Museum's film and
media collections. There will also be a visit to the galleries and a
discussion session.

Refreshments will hopefully be supplied at the beginning and end of the day,
although a few pounds may need to be charged per person. I will let anyone
who books know what the cost will be as soon as it has been confirmed. For
lunch, there is a tea room at the Museum. However, they will not be able to
cope with large numbers so it might be best if you bring your own packed
lunch.

Non-members of the region are welcome to attend: the booking slip,
programme, business meeting agenda and directions are included below as text
(feel free to let me know if you need hard copies). If you would like to
come, I would be grateful if you could book by mid-day next Wednesday (12th
May).

Best wishes,

Cerys

DIRECTIONS, ETC.

staffed all day.

By Car

If you have web access, the AA site hosts a useful route planner page:
http://www.theaa.com./travelwatch/planner_main.jsp

Parking is a little complicated as there is no provision on-site (except for
those requiring disabled spaces). The Council have also recently introduced
parking meters for off-site spaces in the area which cost £1.00 for a
maximum of four hours. Vouchers can be bought in local newsagents. It
might be simpler to try and park at Hove or Brighton Train Stations, or at a
municipal car park.

By Train, Foot and Bus

Hove Train Station is probably the easiest one to use, although Brighton
Train Station is a suitable alternative. There are frequent services to
both stations but the route will depend on where you are starting from! For
all train information contact National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50 or
at www.nationalrail.co.uk/index.htm.

The museum is a fifteen to twenty minute walk from Hove Train Station, which
is located near Goldstone Villas. There are a number of slightly different
routes you can take, but you will need to head for Sackville Road. Once on
Sackville Road, head down it for some way then turn right onto New Church
Road. Alternatively, buses 1 and 1A, 6 and 6A and 49 all stop near the
museum entrance.

Disabled Access

The museum is fully accessible.

Refreshments/Lunch

Refreshments will hopefully be supplied at the beginning and end of the day,
although a few pounds may need to be charged per person. I will let anyone
who books know what the cost will be as soon as it has been confirmed.

For lunch, there is a tea room at the museum. However, they will not be
able to cope with large numbers so you may prefer to bring your own packed
lunch.
