Hi all
Just to let you know that I have contacted Emma Reeves from Dazed and
Confused and am waiting a response re speaking at the AGM. Unfortunately
I doubt if I will be able to make it as I don't get back from NY until
Wednesday evening. However, any thing I can do , please let me know.
All the best
Cheers
Conrad

> Dear colleague,
>
>
>
> I am writing to invite you to the annual conference and AGM to be held
in the media centre at the University of Sunderland, Ashbourne House,
Ryhope Road, Sunderland SR2 7EF from midday Thursday 19th to early
afternoon Friday 20th February. The theme of the conference is broadly
contemporary image production and distribution and Professor Paul
Wombell will be giving his inaugural lecture on Thursday evening.
>
>
>
> The conference programme will include speakers to all contemporary
areas of photographic practice. I am hoping that discussion will develop
around the idea of a world without secrets: the impact of mobile picture
phones, texting and the internet. Contact me via e-mail if there are any
particular people you would like me to invite to contribute, or indeed,
if you want to propose another strand to be discussed.
>
>
>
> Agenda items for the AGM (to be held on Friday 20th) should be sent to
me via e-mail please. All posts on the executive committee fall vacant
this year and nominations should be sent or given to me in advance of
the meeting. The current committee will be seeking re-election to enable
them to complete the firm establishment of the APHE.
>
>
>
> I appreciate that some of you who receive this letter will be
unfamiliar with the association so I have included some information over
the page. Please do contact me or any other member of the committee to
find out more about the APHE. Best of all, join the discussion group
([log in to unmask]), which I will also use to send out programme
updates, conference papers, agenda items and details of hotels. For
those of you ready to book, I have negotiated a conference rate of
£47.25 per night at the Roker Hotel, Roker Terrace, Sunderland, tel:
0191 567 1786, e-mail: [log in to unmask] . There is also
accommodation available along the same road at the Balmoral Guesthouse >
->  rooms here cost between £22 and £34 per night, tel:0191 565 9217.
>
>
>
> I hope that you and or a colleague will be able to attend. It is very
important that we share our experiences and concerns about photographic
education. There are issues (regarding recruitment, fees, subject
benchmarking, research etc.) that only a strong and formally constituted
association can address. Which brings me finally to a request from Paul
Proctor, our treasurer, that you join or renew your membership.
