The launches form part of a wider Careers Showcase from 14.30 to 19.00 hrs. Between 14.30 and 16.15 hrs there will be a presentation by Louise Webber, a practising statistician, on a career in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as a talk by Rob Eastaway, a consultant and established author entitled 'How to be a mathematician and not be avoided at parties'. There will be careers stands run by: Statisticians in the Pharmaceutical Industry, the Government Statistical Services, the Institute of Actuaries, the London Mathematical Society, the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, the OR Society and the Royal Statistical Society. All will have representatives on hand to brief participants about career paths and opportunities. We would particularly encourage you to attend if you are a student (school or university), careers adviser, teacher/lecturer or a colleague working to promote the study of mathematics and/or the application of mathematics in the workplace.
Those attending will be able to access the new website and, there will be formal and informal viewings of the video as well as the opportunity to meet with some of the statisticians profiled in the video during timetabled sessions. All participants are invited to a reception (soft drinks, wine and canapés) from 17.30 hrs to 19.00 hrs.
