As Chair of the AFLS Research Committee, I have received a
letter from the Arts & Humanities Research Board (of the
UK), inviting us (= "you or your academic colleagues") to
nominate (by 8 April) researchers who could be considered
for appointment to a peer review college. Part of the
'blurb' is pasted in below. More details are of course on
their web site: http://www.ahrb.ac.uk/
As I understand it, the AHRB is happy to receive a large
number of nominations, and they say that it may well be most
practical for people to *nominate themselves* (and fill in
the form themselves on-line). They are *not* asking AFLS to
vet nominations in any way.
It would however be useful for the AFLS if nominees let
me know when they had sent their nomination form to the
AHRB: this would allow us to check that there was going
to be a healty number of AFLS nominations.
Best wishes

"The AHRB is currently establishing a peer review college,
which will inform the assessment of applications for
research funding from October 2004. The nomination form and
guidance notes on applying to serve on the new college
are currently available from the AHRB's web-site at
http://www.ahrb.ac.uk."
