"Dirty Bomb Kits" Dr Frank Barnaby
Are nuclear terrorists really a threat, or is an NGO bomb still the stuff
of movies? Has the technology of construction and detection moved on since
the cold war? Given the growth of nuclear industries worldwide, is it
possible to police the trade in nuclear materials? Is a dirty bomb more
dangerous than abiological weapon, and just how hard is it to build your
own nuke? Frank Barnaby talks about the risks of 'dirty bombs' and nuclear
WMD's, and the counter-measures needed to protect us.
A nuclear physicist by training, Barnaby works for the Oxford Research
Group on military technology, the civil and military uses of nuclear energy
and the terrorist use of weapons of mass destruction; he is former director
of the Stockholm International Peace
Research Institute, and author of numerous books including, most recently,
How to Build A Nuclear Bomb.In the chair is Daniel Glaser, the ICA’s first
scientist in residence.
