It depends what you want to assess! Are you looking at chemical exposure,
noise, vibration, radiation etc. etc. etc. You will almost certainly need
different approaches for each. My particular interest is in dermal exposure.
For this risk assessment can be extremely complex and difficult. Firstly the
way in which exposure can occur is not easy to identify (although this may
not be apparent at first glance). Since there are no validated, practical
methods for measuring exposure and since data on the effec of chemicals in
contact with the skin can be vague and uncertain, you can see that the risk
assessment techniques for this will be very different from assessing
exposure to, say, noise.
