Since becoming integrated with Aspen Publishers in 2002, Kluwer Law
International (KLI) has been focused on maintaining and developing its
relationships with its customers in all markets. Recognising the
particular importance of the UK market, Kluwer Law International has
appointed me (Peter Reardon) as UK Territory Manager.
With 30 years experience in the publishing industry, I will be making it
a priority task to clarify the situation regarding online access to KLI
journals for 2004. For those who haven't seen any previous
announcements, the salient points to note are:
1. As from August 2002, Kluwer Law International has a new
reporting line into Aspen Publishing, which in turn is part of Wolters
Kluwer Group.
2. Kluwer Academic Publishers has been divested by Wolters Kluwer
and is therefore, no longer a part of the group.
3. Kluwer Academic Publishers (KAP) and Kluwer Law International
(KLI) therefore have totally separate owners, and are no longer
'related'.
4. Subsequently, a number of journals that may have been included
in previous arrangements with KAP have now changed hands or been closed.
5. The journals that continue to be published by KLI - 17 existing
titles plus a new one, 18 in total - will be offered in both print and
online formats for 2004 onwards.
6. KLI journals are effectively media independent; meaning they
are available in either print or online format for the same subscription
price. They may also be purchased as a print/online combination for a
special price.
