We addressed this issue a couple of years ago, by starting an Ejournals
Project". In the NHS, we have particular issues to overcome relating to
accessing ejournals - in addition to all the usual ones! We wanted an
ejournals management system that would manage ejournals (free and
subscription based) for a particular region of NHS libraries (Kent,
Surrey,Sussex, Oxford etc) as well as provide access to those journals for
individual libraries.
To see how we managed this, do take a look at the EResources Special
Interest Group website:
http://stlis.thenhs.com/hln/groups/ersig/
where, by clicking on the right hand options, documentation for the project
is aviailable.
to see the result in action, go to:
http://stlis.thenhs.com/hln/web_journals_asp/brighton.asp?library=Sussex%20P
GMC
which is the "way in" for our users at Brighton & Sussex University
Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an example of the individual pages which are
created but which search the whole database, pulling out only those journals
avaialable to Brighton users.
The project was also written up in Serials Vol 16 (3) pp307-312, where
contacts for the project can be found.
Hope this helps
