Consumer Consultation and
Participation in Policy Making
Special Issue March 2005
The International Journal of Consumer Studies is designed to provide an
international forum for academic and research papers about consumer
issues. It publishes studies of goods and services from a user perspective
on topics such as access and awareness, information and choice, marketing
and advice, design and choice, rights and responsibilities, and standards
and safety.
The journal invites submissions for a special issue on Consumer
Consultation and Participation in Policy Making. Manuscripts are
particularly welcome on the following topics:
Involving Consumers in Consultations
Methods for Improving Public Participation
Consumer Organisations
Reaching Vulnerable Consumer Groups
Using Consumer Networks
Consumer Representatives on Advisory Committees
Consumer Consultation in the 21st Century
Local versus National Consultation
Public Perspectives on Policy
Consumers in Trade and Industry
Consumer Market Research
Consumer Representation in the Public Sector
This list is by no means exhaustive. Articles may be theoretical, report
on detailed research, or reflect on an aspect of practice. They should also
add significantly to the published research literature in this area. This
issue of the journal is intended for anyone with an academic or
professional interest in consumer studies, who wishes to write from a
local, national or international perspective. Submitting a manuscript will
be an opportunity to join other eminent authorities in the field who have
helped to disseminate research in this field.
Expressions of interest and an outline of the proposed paper (maximum 500
words) should be submitted to the guest editors by 31st January 2004:
