Dear all
As someone who also has to organise such meetings, I also frequently hear
complaints about where they located. Maybe some of those complaining about
various meetings not being near their patch should volunteer to host them
themselves, thus guaranteeing no travel time at all! Having just done some
myself I can say it only takes a couple days of organising!
I do agree with the idea of staggering the meetings, because at the moment
HBSMR, Regional SMR and HER Forum are all falling in a 3 week period for us
in the eastern region.
Best wishes
Sarah

This reply made my blood boil!! - welcome to the real world.
EVERY meeting I ever attend is at least one flight and 2 overnights.
Portsmouth to Cambridge it probably only two trains! The south coast is not
the centre of the Universe or even the centre of Britain.

Dear Martin
Well from someone who did not attend the meeting, the only reason was the
location. Its a long way from Plymouth to Cambridge , and it would mean
staying somewhere overnight. The costs of this plus the train fare all
mounts up, and as our budget is very tight, we have to justify going to
these meetings.
So if you decide to have one a bit closer sometime, I will be happy to
attend.
Glad it went well anyway.

Firstly I'd like to thank all those who turned up to the Forum Meeting in
Cambridge on Monday and for making it such a interesting event. I'd
especially like to thank the Staff in in Cambridge for hosting the meting
and all the speakers.
We are looking for a venue and topics for the next meeting if you have any
suggestions please let me know.
We are interested to hear from those who chose not to attend this or other
recent Forum meetings to find out why. Is it the programmes, locations,
costs (remember the day is provided free) or some other meeting. In these
fast changing times it is useful to get representatives of as many HERs
together to here about the latest developments and share views and
experiences. We are therefore keen to encourage representatives of as many
HERs as possible to attend each meeting. Any views on how we can encourage
attendance are welcome.
Lastly, HER News, if anyone would like to contribute and article can they
please get in touch to discuss. You have a bit longer than usual as It will
be coming out as early as possible end Jan/Beginning of Feb as I will be
away for most of January in New Zealand so won't be around to edit it.
However I would like to have a list of articles before Christmas.
Thanks
Martin
