As was pointed out by Bob, "Physically attending meetings is time-consuming and expensive and not always very effective...." Online discussion is obviously the answer to many of the points raised. This was in fact the point of setting up the HBSMR discussion list - so that points, queries, squabbles and arguments could be raised in a forum that all have access to. SMR Forum serves the same purpose on a wider platform.
As well as discussion, the forums have the potential to allow voting on topics and many other features which we're not using at the moment. For HBSMR, Have a look at <http://www.britarch.net/lists/>. Click on the pdf file link there which gives details of the lists features.
As an alternative, perhaps Martin might be able to circulate a summary list of the possible services that CBA/JISCMAIL provide for the lists, to remind everyone of what is already available. If this isn't enough, Mike Heyworth assured us when we started the HBSMR list that they (CBA) are open to suggestions for improvements to the service, if we can identify a need. Perhaps we've started to identify that need.
