Visiting Professorships and Fellowships
This scheme enables scholars from overseas to be invited to visit the UK to
carry out research for between two and four weeks. Applications will only be
accepted from a sponsor, resident in the UK, who undertakes to make all the
necessary administrative arrangements for the visit. (Overseas scholars are

Visiting Professor or (for a more junior scholar) British Academy Visiting
Fellow and awards a sum of money towards travel and maintenance costs.
Applications to the scheme and all practical arrangements are to be
undertaken by the visitor's British sponsor. The main purpose of the visit
should be to enable the visitor to pursue research.
