My first guess is that they're not Tankersley, as most of the annular spoil heaps are on the golf course, but we will investigate and let you know.
I would have thought that 1420-019 was obvious to any archaeologist. It precedes Grimes Graves and I'm certain that the one before is Grimes Last Pint, so this is clearly Grimes last Stagger. Bonus prize to the address below, in used notes please.
Jim

Chris
I think that the following may be an early coal-working site at Tankersley Park, near Barnsley, South Yorkshire, but no doubt Jim or one of the others from the South Yorks SMR could confirm that.
357 34 18-9-87
(CPAT ref 1420-015 )
223 58 9-10-84
(CPAT ref 1420-023 )
150053 5-7-83
(CPAT ref 1420-024 )
I will hopefully be putting some (non-archaeological) mystery photographs on the Hampshire Photographic Project web site in the New Year for people to have fun identifying - nice idea!
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to everyone on the SMR/HER list.
Regards
Bruce

CPAT has recently been loaned a number of digital images of vertical
(and other) APs. Having picked out those local ones the majority of
those left seem to be of eastern England from runs taken in the 1980s.
Some have been identified and some even I could recognise, but the
majority are 'unidentified'. Some of these photos may be of your area
and may of interest to the SMR - and of course all or some of them may
be known to you already. However, if you log onto the URL below you can
see what there is and decide if they are of any use to you.
http://www.cpat.org.uk/temp/yourpics.htm
The originals are fairly high resolution TIFs. I have reduced the sizes
on the web site but the page still may take a couple of minutes to load.
Key words in the 'catalogue' are
Brodger at Bottisham, chalk patterns at Fulbourn Cambs, Devil's Ditch,
Nr Fenland, filled in duck decoy Nr Bradwell, duck decoy Peakirk, West
Tanfield henge Yorks, Grimes Graves, Helpston NW Peterborough, Yielden,
Tughall Mill Beadnell Bay south of Sea Houses, Warham Hill fort River
Stiffkey, Cople Beds . . . . and many more
There will of course be a major prize for anyone correctly identifying
all the photos, and a special bonus prize for anyone identifying
1420-019.
Happy Christmas
