As you are no doubt aware the DCMS's consultation on the future of Historic
Environment Records came to a close yesterday. I have just received a list
from DCMS of responders and was shocked to see that only a third of
SMRs/HERs/UADs or their parent organisations had replied. I'm sure the DCMS
will accept late submissions and I urge you to reply at this late stage.
This is your opportunity to influence the future of Government policy on
HERs and if you consider that issues such as funding, standards and
statutory status are important then you should be counted.
When the final list of respondents is available it would be very
disappointing not to see EVERY SMR/HER or UAD (or its parent organisation
included on it.
The very future of our sector is at stake I can not put it more plainly than
this.
