Dear everyone,
My name is Emma Jørum and I am a PhD Cand at the Department of Government,
Uppsala University, Sweden. I am working on a thesis on the relationship
between territory and state in Syria and disputed territories. Within
political science the territory of the state tends to be taken for granted
and I have difficulties finding litterature that discusses why certain
territories are more important to states than others and why a certain
territorial extension is sought by government authorities. The litterature
I have found deals with territorial conflict and war and different values a
territory might have but I thought that perhaps within critical geography
there might be more litterature taking the issue further than that. If
anyone has suggestions for good litterature that deals with state-territory-
disputed borders please let me know. It will be most appreciated!
Sincerely
Emma Jørum
