I agree with Ken. Fireproof safes are not always the best answer for
vital storage protection. If you have vital records - originals need to
be kept off-site in a vital protection facility with copies on hand for
daily work - or if originals are needed (such as treasury documents,
banking letters of credit) copies kept off-site in a vital storage
protection facility.
Depending on the age of the building, whether or not asbestos is present
and there is a major explosion (such as the 9/11 tragedy in New York)
fire proof safes are not going to make any difference.
They are very expensive for their limited use. I don't even use one at
home for my personal vital records (passport, birth certificate, will
etc.) - I opt to use a bank safety deposit box instead.
Here in the US most companies use Underground Vaults and Storage (salt
mine) for vital storage. I do not know their counterpart in the UK.

Subject: Re: suppliers of fire proof cabinets
There are several well advertised suppliers of fire safes but be very
careful about their specification. Many fire proof safes are only rated
to
withstand a fire for an hour or two. Many fires will last much longer.
My advice is to copy the information and store it in geographically
separated locations instead.
This also overcomes problems caused when the information is needed
urgently
but the safe needs several hours to cool before it can be opened.
