Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to LibQUAL+ 2004, and thank you for your interest in participating.
We currently have a total of 17 Higher Education Institutions actively
interested in participating in this years SCONUL LibQUAL+ cohort, they are:
* Anglia Polytechnic University
* Brunel University
* London South Bank
* Loughborough University
* Napier University
* Queen Margaret University College
* Trinity College Dublin
* UMIST and the University of Manchester
* University College Worcester
* University of East London
* University of Glasgow
* University of Liverpool
* University of Paisley
* University of Sheffield
* University of Strathclyde
* University of Westminster
* University of York
As co-ordinator I will provide regular updates on the progress of the survey
as appropriate, previous experience indicates that this is normally on a
monthly basis. Any question should be sent to my research assistant, Selena
Lock, her contact details can be found below. If she cannot answer them
immediately they will be referred onto either the ARL or myself. Questions
could also be directed to the UK LibQUAL+ e-mail list as appropriate, or the
US equivalent - the primary contact will automatically join this upon
registration.
We are in the process of arranging the UK LibQUAL+ training, currently
planned for early January. The location of the training will depend on the
volunteers to host received, and potentially will be combined with the
European Business Schools Librarians' Group (EBSLG) consortium. The training
is likely to be conducted by Colleen Cook and Bruce Thompson. Further
details on the training, including the schedule, location and booking
details will follow.
In terms of who else to bring several people last year asked about the need
to have an accompanying IT expert. There is some local IT input required to
ensure the survey will be accessible to your users, but that the content of
the training is focussed on the survey rationale and content rather than any
technical IT aspects. You are of course encouraged to bring as many people
as you like.
Finally, but importantly, every institution joining the pilot needs to
formally register with the LibQUAL+ 2004 program.
The following is some text on how to go about this:
Please register with ARL as instructed below.
Registration Opens for 2004 LibQUAL+ Survey (press release)
http://www.arl.org/arl/pr/libqual_survey04.html
Registration will close in December.
The Registration page is located at:
http://www.libqual.org/Register/index.cfm
VERY IMPORTANT
*Under Institutional Information, your Consortium Participation is:
SCONUL
* Under Payment Information, SCONUL libraries participating should check:
"A bulk payment arrangement has been made with my consortium". Do not fill
out credit card information.
* Remember: Once you "submit" your information, your library is committed to
paying ARL even if you later decide not to participate. After registering,
libraries will automatically receive an email containing their username and
password. This will allow them to access the LibQUAL+ Management Centre.
Once there, the library will be led through additional steps as part of the
LibQUAL+ process.
Please email me also when you have done this, because the billing of the
$2250 will be done through SCONUL.
All the best,
Stephen
