Dear list members,
My research on Jacques Viénot, founder of industrial aesthetic in France,
leads me to an international organization working in the the Thirties :
PORZA (1928 - 1939).
I had the opportunity to find, in private archives, the relationship report
for the French branch of Porza ("Nouvelles brèves" 1932-1938) with some
indications on the others members abroad.
The aim of Porza was to promote artistic and intellectual relationships in a
spirit of international collaboration and comprehension.
Jacques Viénot was the creator of the French branch of this association
(1929) and he also was the editor, with his wife, of the relationship
report.
The founder of Porza was a German artist : W. von Alvensleben.
In Germany, there were 1300 members in 1932 (Berlin, Frankfort, Karlsruhe,
Mannheim...).
The president of the English branch was Henry L. Brose and the secretary ,
Edw. Richardson (Nottingham).
Porza was also in Finland,in the Netherlands, in Greece. Contacts was taken
with Chicago, Sao Paulo, lahore... in 1937, during the International
exhibition in Paris.
I would be happy to correspond with anybody interested to share material
on this subject.
Thanks very much per advance - sincerely
