I am working as a project officer at the University of Newcastle for a
HEFCE funded Strand 2 initiative to improve provision for disabled
postgraduate research students. Currently I am working with students to
identify issues which need to be addressed. The main outcomes of the
project will be on-line staff development resources and guidelines and
these will be made available nationally. Student case studies, written
by students, will be at the centre of the training materials.
It would be very helpful to the identification of student issues if I
could make contact with disabled research students who have opted not to
disclose their disability to the institution and who would be willing to
share their experience. I would also be pleased to hear from any
disabled research student who would be interested in being involved in
the project. I would initially send an explanatory letter and a
questionnaire. There need be no further commitment.
All replies will be dealt with confidentially.
Thank you.
