I have a bog standard RH7.3 machine. I have numerous versions of python
installed:
[ian@marnomad2 ian]$ python2 -V
Python 2.2.2
[ian@marnomad2 ian]$ python2.2 -V
Python 2.2.2
[ian@marnomad2 ian]$ python2.3 -V
Python 2.3.1
[ian@marnomad2 ian]$ python -V
Python 2.3.1
I have followed the instructions Steve prepared on UI install at:
http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/tb-support/ui.html
but I bumped the EDG version up to 2.0.21 (which seems to be the latest
,although I don't know what 2.1.0 is). then did "rpm -ivh *.rpm" and got:
[root@marnomad2 edgrpms]# rpm -Uvh *.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
tkinter2 >= 2.2.2 is needed by edg-wl-ui-cli_gcc3_2_2-2.0.15-2
(BTW, this version of edg-wl-ui-cli didn't change between 2.0.18 and
2.0.21) So I downloaded tkinter2-2.2.2-11.7.3.i386.rpm, but then I got:
[root@marnomad2 edgrpms]# rpm -Uvh *.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
python2 = 2.2.2 is needed by tkinter2-2.2.2-11.7.3
I attempted --force, but it didn't seem to work. How to I get over this
particular speed bump? I think my Python versions > 2.0 were installed
from source, not from RPMs.
Cheers,
Ian.
