Apologies for cross-posting.
The final report (that has the name of the title of this message)
together with all other reports of the SOCCARE Project are now freely
available at the address http://www.uta.fi/laitokset/sospol/soccare/ .
The SOCCARE Project has been a comparative research project funded by
the European Commission, FP5, Socio-Economic Key Action. It has studied
the strategies of families in combining informal and formal care with
participation in paid employment. This qualitative study including
almost 400 interviews has been done in Finland, France, Italy, Portugal
and the UK. As a part of the final report, a number of policy
recommendations are presented, based on findings from the project.
In addition to the below mentioned comparative reports, the web site
includes national reports on lone parent families, multi-career families
and immigrant families from each of the five countries.
