Subject: [JISC-ANNOUNCE] OSS Watch Scoping Study for UK HE and FE - reminder
Dear Colleague
OSS Watch Scoping Study for UK HE and FE - reminder
With apologies to those who have already completed the OSS Watch Scoping Study, we are sending this reminder to urge you to complete the online survey by 24 October in order to assist us in developing this open source software advisory service for UK higher and further education.
The original message describing the study is below.
Many thanks for your assistance in this.
Best wishes,
Randy Metcalfe
Communications Manager
OSS Watch
Dear Colleague,
RE: *****OSS Watch Scoping Study for UK HE and FE******
OSS Watch, http://www.oss-watch.ac.uk/ <http://www.oss-watch.ac.uk/> , is a pilot advisory service on free and open source software for UK higher and further education set up by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) in July 2003.
In an effort to determine how best to develop this service, OSS Watch is conducting a scoping study of all UK higher and further education institutions. Our goal is to investigate the current state of participation in free and open source software both in terms of projects developing such software and institutional deployment of such software.
IT Directors and Managers at each further and higher education institution in the UK have been sent this invitation to participate in our survey.
The value of study depends upon your completion of the survey and indeed upon the completion of each section of the survey. Please complete the survey by 24 October.
* Scoping study: http://survey.oss-watch.ac.uk/ <http://survey.oss-watch.ac.uk/> The survey must be completed using this form.
* Full set of scoping study questions to view in advance: http://survey.oss-watch.ac.uk/scopingstudy.pdf <http://survey.oss-watch.ac.uk/scopingstudy.pdf>
You may complete the survey even if you are not able to represent your entire institution - you will be able to indicate which department you are representing. Either way, we would ask you to answer the remaining questions from the same standpoint.
It should take no more than 20 minutes to complete the survey.
Data from the study will be anonymized in a report, which will be made public. You may choose to have an electronic copy of that report sent to you.
If you have any questions concerning this scoping study or your participation within it, please contact Randy Metcalfe, Communications Manager, OSS Watch at [log in to unmask]
