Dear List Subscribers
Many apologies for cross posting.
My name is Ross Little and I am based at Glasgow Caledonian University where
I am involved in the JISC Click and Go Access for All project. The project
is looking at providing accessible digital video and audio, and the
requirements users (particularly the sensory impaired) might have when using
these resources for learning, teaching and research.
The Access for All project is an extension of the original Click and Go
Video Project (www.clickandgovideo.ac.uk) that aimed to provide academic and
support staff with the resources and information necessary to evaluate and
choose the most appropriate technology and pedagogy to use with their
students.
As part of the Access for All project we will be producing a guide for
academic and support staff on making digital video and audio more
accessible. The guide will be grounded in practical and affordable
solutions, and will be both technical and pedagogical in its content.
In order to produce the guide we would very much like to build upon accepted
current practice in this area and to facilitate this we would like to hear
from those involved in accessible video and audio - both digital and
non-digital.
Ideally we would really like to know:
What format is your video or audio?
Why are you making it accessible?
How are you making your video or audio accessible?
What tools and applications are you using to increase accessibility?
What support have you received which may be of benefit to others?
How successful have you been in creating accessible video or audio?
How could the process of making video and audio accessible be facilitated?
Your help in sharing these skills and knowledge by way of the guide is very
much appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks in advance for your time and help.
Ross Little
