LOCAL ECONOMY
Now approaching its 20th year of publication, Local Economy is seeking
nominations for new members of our Editorial and Advisory boards
The Editorial Board meets quarterly and, with the editors, makes decisions
on publication, generates copy, reviews applications for special editions,
and identifies other areas of interest that the journal should cover.
The two Co-Editors are chosen from the Editorial Board and serve normally
for five years. The current co-editors are Peter North, Department of
Geography, University of Liverpool and Stuart Wilks-Heeg, Department of
Sociology and Social Policy, University of Liverpool. The secretary to the
Board is Andrew Jones, Local Economy Policy Unit, London South Bank
University. A deputy editor shadows the editors and fills the next vacancy
for editor. With the recent appointment of Stuart Wilks-Heeg as co-editor,
that position is currently vacant.
The Advisory Board meets annually to advise the Editors and Editorial Board
on the health and coverage of the journal, to advise on and assist with
marketing, and to point to issues emerging in the field that the journal
should cover. Like Editorial Board members, they are also engaged in
soliciting copy for the journal.
We are particularly seeking nominations from new and emerging researchers
working in the fields the journal covers, and from practitioners engaged in
cutting edge new developments. A particular focus of the journal is to
work at the borders where academics and practitioners meet to engage in
radical critiques of regeneration policy and local economic development.
Nominations should include the applicants name, institution, and a short
paragraph explaining why they would like to join the journal's Editorial or
Advisory boards. Self nomination is welcomed. Please state which board
you are interested in. The Editorial Board's decision on suitability is
final.
Informal discussions with the editors are welcome:
Peter North, 0151-794 2849
Stuart Wilks-Heeg, 0151-794 3012

Aims and Scope:
Local Economy, now published by Routledge, an imprint of the Taylor &
Francis Group, was founded in 1986 to bring together policy analysts,
researchers and practitioners concerned with local economic policies and
social justice. Local Economy aims to make academic research accessible to
all working in the broad field of local economic and social change.
Local Economy operates as an interdisciplinary forum for the critical
review of policy developments in the broad area of local economic
development and urban regeneration. Local Economy seeks not only to publish
analysis and critique but also to disseminate innovative practice. One
particular concern is with grassroots community economic development
strategies and the work of voluntary organisations, considered within the
context of wider social, political and economic change.
