Apologies for cross posting.

You are cordially invited to attend the Fourth CETIS-TechDis Accessibility
Special Interest Group (SIG) Partnership Meeting.

Ian Burrett of Learning and Teaching Scotland has kindly offered to host
the meeting which will be held on Monday 27th October from 10.30 to
approximately 16:00 in Glasgow. There is no charge for attending the
meeting and lunch will be provided.

The agenda will include:

Creating Accessible e-Learning: Projects at Applied Computing, Dundee
University - David Sloan.
An overview of the work of the Digital Media Access Group (DMAG) and other
research groups in Applied Computing at Dundee University, looking at
various projects aimed at using technology to raise accessibility of the
learning and teaching environment. Projects such as Skills for Access and
RAFT will be discussed.

News about Specifications - Andy Heath, Sheffield Hallam University.
Andy Heath is been heavily involved in the development of the IMS
Accessibility specifications, CEN/ISSS and BSI standards. In the first of
a biannual presentation to the Special Interest Group (SIG), he will be
talking about what is happening with the various specification bodies
regarding accessibility.

I T Training For Visually Impaired, Unemployed Graduates - Adrian
Higginbotham, University of Salford.
Adrian Higginbotham will talk briefly about the ESF sponsored I T training
for visually impaired graduate project. This will then be followed by:

The Role of the User in Determining Accessibility - Adrian Higginbotham,
University of Salford.
As assistive technology becomes more powerful it also becomes more
complex, so what is Accessibility? Is it what the user can do or what the
technology can do?

There will also be time for a discussion session.

If you would like to attend, please visit
http://www.cetis.ac.uk/members/accessibility/registration/nextMeeting and
complete the registration form (link located near the bottom of the
page). Please note that space is limited.

(This meeting is being held on the day before the CETIS Learning Design
Workshop in case you would like to attend both meetings. The Learning
Design Workshop is a two day workshop (although you can attend for one day
only), organised by the CETIS Educational Content Special Interest Group
(EC SIG) and the CETIS Pedagogy Forum, which will be held on Tuesday 28th
October and Wednesday 29th October 2003, at Learning and Teaching
Scotland, Glasgow. Further details are available from
