That is an interesting question Raquel. I have always wondered about the
transversely 'ridged' surface of the surface of the upstanding soil between
the rows of figures (I have never worked out if this is fill of a huge hole
or whether these are the edges of narrow trenches) seen in most photos of
the original site. It looks like the archaeologists dug parallel trenches
across the site to define the limits of the areas where the figures occur,
but why to different levels?
