Intercultural Spaces, Language, Culture and Identity.
The Royal Irish Academy's Modern Languages Symposium takes place on
November 7 and 8 in Dublin City University. Professor Mona Baker of
the University of Manchester will give the first of two keynote
addresses, on Friday 7th November. Mona Baker is an Egyptian-born
academic who specialises in Translation Studies. Sargon Boulus, former
journalist and Iraqi poet, will give the second keynote speech on
Saturday, 8 November. An informal evening of literary reflections will
take place from 8pm on Friday 7 November. Roddy Doyle, Rosita Boland,
Gabriel Rosenstock, and Sargon Boulus will contribute to this evening
of intercultural reflection in a relaxed atmosphere. There are over 80
speakers from many different cultures and backgrounds such as Europe,
Asia and United States amongst others. Further information on attending
