Apologies for multiple copies
Dear colleagues
I am organising an eTourism Forum at the IST2003 Event in Milan
http://europa.eu.int/information_society/istevent/2003/cf/vieweventdetail.cfm?ses_id=322&eventType=networking&vi=1
More on the IST event and registration information see:
http://europa.eu.int/information_society/istevent/2003/index_en.htm
The main reason of the Forum is really to identify the areas where FP6
research can be applied in the tourism, travel, hospitality,
cultural heritage, transport and
destination/government sectors of the industry. Please come along if you
can to discuss how technologies can actually make a difference on these
areas and also to discuss exploitation plans of existing projects.
Please express an interest on line:

Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) and the Internet
revolutionised the entire tourism, cultural heritage, travel, transport
and hospitality industries. Applications support the management of
operations and strategies and provide tools for consumers and partners. As
95% of tourism are SMEs there are major challenges and
opportunities. Governments also use ICTs to modernise National and
Regional Tourism Boards and to enable interoperability (both technical and
functional) of public sector functions. Tourism are ideal test-beds for
ICTs related to mobile users, eGoverment, eBusiness and SMEs. This
workshop brings together parties that develop ICTs to be used, applied or
test-bedded in the tourism, cultural heritage, travel, transport and
hospitality industries.
