Developing a File Plan
Training Workshop 20 November 2003, Liverpool
*********************************************
A file plan is an essential component of a records management programme. A
well-designed plan, effectively integrated with a records retention
schedule and other key components, makes it easier to control and access
records and information to support day to day work and to meet statutory
and regulatory requirements.
This Records Managemetn Society of Great Britain workshop will cover
different approaches to developing a file plan, the case for a functional
approach and the process of developing a functional file plan. It will
include some practical group work.
The workshop leader, Elizabeth Parker, has over 20 years’ experience in
records management as a practitioner, consultant and trainer and is co-
founder of Emmerson Consulting Ltd. She pioneered the use of the functional
methodology in the UK and is author of Managing Your Organisation’s Records.
