*apologies for cross posting*
Dear Colleagues
Problem-based learning promises to aid students in developing strong
graduate skills, a practised self confidence, an appreciation of the
complexity of 'real world' problems, and a commitment to on-going
professional development. One very significant obstacle to the adoption of
problem-based learning methods in legal education, however, has been the
relative dearth of accessible working models from which practical insights
might be drawn.
In order to help meet this need a 'Workshop on PBL in Legal Education' will
be hosted by the Norwich Law School supported by the UKCLE on 24 October
2003. The workshop will involve illustrative demonstrations of PBL classes,
reports from law teachers and students on their use and experience of PBL
methods, and a number of pertinent discussion themes. Participants will
include a number of leading proponents of problem-based learning from legal
studies and cognate disciplines. The workshop should also allow for
productive interchange between those already using PBL methods. Further
details of the programme are attached to this message.
Further details of the event, along with booking forms, can be gleaned from
the UKCLE web pages: http://www.ukcle.ac.uk/events/pbl.html , or by

Cheers
Andrew
