***Virtual Learning Environments in GEES: a one-day conference***
Date: Tuesday 18th November 2003
Venue: Hornton Grange, University of Birmingham
Cost: Free of charge
Why is this event important?
Virtual learning environments (VLEs) are now widely used by GEES lecturers to support learning, teaching and assessment. Their increased usage presents both opportunities and challenges for instructors. Organised to help practitioners understand better these learning environments, this event will bring together a number of GEES colleagues who are using these systems. This one-day event will provide an opportunity for members of the GEES community to show-case new as well as established practices in the integration of VLEs in learning, teaching and assessment. It will also provide opportunities for delegates to discuss issues of common concern and share good practice.
Who should attend?
Anyone with an interest in using VLEs for learning, teaching and assessment in the GEES disciplines.
How will you benefit from attending?
By attending this event delegates will be able to:
1) Share practice on the varied ways in which VLEs may be used in learning, teaching and assessment in the GEES disciplines;
2) Identify issues of common concern in using VLEs and discuss ways of addressing them;
3) Network with other GEES colleagues using the same VLE system as themselves;
4) Become involved in a VLE "community of practice" in the GEES disciplines.
LTSN-GEES is now calling for expressions of interest in this event and paper presentations (20-30 minutes) that demonstrate both (a) experience of using VLE technology in GEES and (b) the educational outcomes gained.
The deadline for contributions is Friday 17th October 2003. A programme for the day will soon be made available at http://www.gees.ac.uk/vleevent.htm .
Please note that places are limited, so please register your expression of interest early by return of email to:
