Hi Jenny
In Australia we did a year long participatory research project for the Disability Council of NSW on the experiences of parents in their children's school education. During the course of the project we spoke with over eighty parents, and their experiences and the themes drawn out from them are in the project report "More than Getting Through the Gate:The involvement of parents who have a disability in their children's school education in NSW". You can download it or read it on the Disabiltiy Council website at http://www.discoun.nsw.gov.au/MoreThanGetting.pdf
Cheers

Subject: disabled parents
I'm doing a briefing paper (commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation)
on disabled parents' relationships with schools and involvement in their
children's education. The term 'disabled parents' includes those with
physical and/or sensory impairments, learning disabilities, mental health
support needs, long-term illness, HIV/AIDs. I would be grateful for any
information (including personal experiences) which anyone would be willing
to share with me concerning this issue. If anyone wants to share
information confidentially please reply to me off list - I will ensure that
any information given in confidence remains anonymous.
Thanks.
Jenny Morris.
