There are four that are useful and I use each for different things.
1. Photoshop. Serious money. If the Trust is paying, go ahead. 2. Paint
Shop Pro. Good middle price powerful image editing software. I use it a
lot. 3. Thumbsplus. Brilliant thumbnailing program; it is what I use to
create web pages. Also does some image manipulation. 4. Irfanview. I
have only just discovered this, but it has the remarkable attribute of
being free. http://www.irfanview.com/ It seems excellent for the price
(!) if a little eccentric in some of its ways.
As the more alert will have noticed, these are essentially image tools.
I find that other files can be stored perfectly adequately using the
Windows system, provided you obey 2 golden rules. First ensure you name
files something helpful - 'whiplash for GPs.ppt' is a lot more use to
you than 'neck2.ppt'. Secondly, use subdirectories (subfolders) freely.
So I store images by part of body, equipment or mechanism as
appropriate. You won't be helped by anything else. Take backups!

Subject: Computer question
Not strictly an ED thing, but I thought Id ask anyway.
Ive accumulated a large number of photo's, powerpoint, pdf and word
documents and was wondering if anyone knows of a good file management
programme (over and above the standard windows system) - particularly
for the photo's - but ideally covering different file types.
thanks
Craig
Best wishes,
