Dear All,
We have a big e-Science meeting in the UK next week. This meeting is
politically very important and we will be staging a pretty simple demo
there. The demo consists of a geant 4 simulation (that is statically
linked) and the only output is a root-tuple file. We have a map of Europe
and the jobs actually move from the RB to the various sites and change
colour when they are in different sates (flashing when they are running)
and then travel back when they are finished. Style over substance in Grid
terms, but it does look pretty.
So like the old trooper she is, we are asking release 1.4 to take to the
stage just one more time to entertain our financial masters. We will be
running over the GriDis sites and some of the UK sites. However it would
be nice to run over whatever remains of the old testbed then aswell. I am
not asking anybody to change any plans they have to upgrade, but if you
have not set a date yet then if possible could you leave it until
Wednesday because the main demo-seesion is Tuesday evening/night. Also if
a site is going to drop off the old testbed before Wednesday, please could
you drop me an email telling me this. It really doesn't matter if jobs
fail at sites (infact it makes it more interesting if one or two do fail)
and so apart from the core sites that we are using we don't need site
contacts and all the other hassle normally associated with demos.
Having said that I have been running a couple of tests and I will be
sending the logging info to those few sites that failed to run, in case
they feel like fixing it (I will certainly not be putting any pressure on
them to fix it if they do not want to).
All the best and thank you for help,
david
