Friday 26 September
19.30 Beatrice de Cardi lecture: 'The past: a look forward'
Loyd Grossman OBE will speak on the role that history and heritage can play in shaping our future. To be followed by a wine reception.
Saturday 27 September
09.30 Presentations on the archaeology of north west England:
* 'Meols: an ancient port in north-west England' - Dr Rob Philpott, Curator of Roman and Later Archaeology, National Museums, Liverpool
* 'From linen weaver to cotton manufacturer: Manchester during the 17th and 18th centuries and the social archaeology of industrialisation' - Dr Mike Nevell, Director, University of Manchester Archaeological Unit & Chair of CBA North West Industrial Archaeology Panel
* 'Accident and design: recent archaeological research in Chester and its hinterland' - Mike Morris, City Archaeologist, Chester City Council
* 'Settlement, salt and subsidence: recent Roman discoveries from the Cheshire wiches' - Mark Leah, Archaeological Officer, Cheshire County Council

13.30 Guided coach trips to regional archaeological sites (choose one):
* Liverpool's maritime heritage
* Norton Priory Museum & Gardens and Halton Castle
* Speke Hall: one of the finest half-timbered mansions of England
* Hale Duck Decoy: one of only three surviving examples in the country, probably dating from the early 17th century
19.30 Lecture: 'The house that Tom built?'
by Richard Morris OBE, English Heritage Commissioner and CBA Hon Vice-President, and Alan Garner, author [to be confirmed]. An archaeological and architectural whodunnit relating to a Cheshire building.

Sunday 28 September
09.00 Archaeology Question Time!
Your opportunity to question a panel of archaeologists including the CBA President and Director, and regional archaeologists from north west England, about any issues of concern.
10.00 'An audience with Francis Pryor'
Members of the Merseyside and Dee branch of the Young Archaeologists' Club will join in for a session with the CBA President which will include an opportunity to hear about some of the work that he has undertaken in recent years.
11.45 CBA Annual General Meeting
12.15 Boosting public participation in archaeology
The launch of a major CBA report and discussion of other related issues including the proposed Code of Conduct relating to the Valletta Convention.

Venue
The main sessions will take place at the Merseyside Maritime Museum, part of the historic Albert Dock on the banks of the River Mersey in Liverpool. See www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/maritime.
The museum is in a former bonded warehouse and tells the story of one the world's greatest ports and the people who used it.
Exhibitions and bookstalls
There will be a number of bookstalls and exhibitions running throughout the weekend in the Museum featuring the work of national and regional archaeological organisations. Anyone interested in bring a display should contact the CBA (see contact details below).
Food, drinks and accommodation
The weekend event will include a wine reception after the Friday evening lecture, coffee/tea on Saturday morning, Saturday lunch, a glass of wine or sherry before the lecture on Saturday evening, Saturday evening dinner, and coffee/tea on Sunday morning.
Accommodation is not being organised by the CBA so you are free to make your own arrangements.
