Childhood Poverty: longitudinal studies for policy making

The conference will bring together the experience and expertise of the
Young Lives team and many others involved in designing, conducting and
using longitudinal research for improved understanding of childhood
poverty. The first day will have a policy focus, the second day will be
more research-orientated. Participants may attend part or all of the

Young Lives is a unique, international longitudinal study, which is
currently taking place in Ethiopia, India, Peru and Vietnam. The
project aims to improve our understanding of the causes and consequences
of childhood poverty in the developing world by following the lives of
8,000 children and their families over a 15 year period. The initial
three years of the project is funded by the UK government's Department
for International Development (DFID). Project partners include academic
institutions and Save the Children UK in the four countries, the UK and
South Africa.
