This year, exceptionally, the V&A/Royal College of Art MA in Renaissance

covering fees and maintenance for late applicants for October 2003 entry.
Further details of these bursaries and the course are contained in the
attached notice. The deadline is the 5th September 2003. I would be
grateful if you could bring these scholarships to the attention of any
students who may be interested in the V&A/RCA course.

RENAISSANCE DECORATIVE ARTS
AND CULTURE, 1400-1650
A FULL-TIME MA DEGREE WITH STUDENT BURSARIES
OCTOBER 2003 ENTRY
Applications are invited for the MA in 'RENAISSANCE DECORATIVE ARTS AND
CULTURE, 1400-1650', a specialism within the V&A/RCA MA programme in the
History of Design. The course is run jointly by the Victoria & Albert
Museum and the Royal College of Art, and offers a unique opportunity to
pursue postgraduate study in the context of the one of the world's
outstanding collections of Renaissance art and design.
The MA degree is a two-year course. In the first year, students take a
carefully structured series of courses taught by a distinguished team of
Museum staff and visiting professors and lecturers. The programme includes
an intensive week-long study trip to Venice in the spring. The second year
is dedicated to researching and writing a long dissertation of between
25,000 and 30,000 words. In addition to the academic programme, students
also undertake a work-experience placement in the V&A, either in a
curatorial department, or in one of the Museum's major Gallery and
Exhibition projects.
FUNDING :
Students on the Course from England, Wales and Northern Ireland are
eligible for the extensive student bursary scheme administered by the Royal
College of Art. These bursaries cover fees and provide a maintenance grant
of up to £3,000 per year. Applicants from other European Union countries
may apply for a 'fees-only' award.
