Chair in Human Geography
Department of Geography, Durham University
The Department of Geography at Durham seeks to appoint a distinguished and
internationally recognised scholar as a Chair from 1st April 2004, to
promote the Department's interests in Human Geography, especially in Social
Geography (e.g. geographies of injustice and inequality, geographies of
welfare and well-being), its cross-subject and interdisciplinary links; and
its engagement with social policy.
The successful candidate will join the largest UK Geography Department
which, in recognition of its 5* grade in the last two Research Assessment
Exercises (1996 and 2001), now enjoys 5** status and has been classed as
excellent by Teaching Quality Assessment
The salary will be by negotiation within the professorial range.
