As you are probably aware, the Practitioners role is to find alternative
pathways of care to keep patients out of A&E. I tend to go along the same
lines as Rowley on this on - i.e. refer back to GP the following day.
This is an area which is being looked at and will go forward to the patient
group directives. I was asked to find out about fridges and that is the
extent of involvement here.
Tetanus may or may not be part of the practitioner role in my area. I do
know that it will not be me who decides this but people like those on this
list - Consultants and policy makers. I am sure if they too have
reservations about the drug it will not go forward. However if there is a
need for Tetanus then we need to have all the facts before accepting or
dismissing the concept.
